Daily Maintenance Tips for Laser Cutting Machines
Introduction
Regular maintenance is essential for the optimal performance and long lifespan of your laser cutting machine. Here are some key points to note:
Maintenance Guidelines
1. Changing Water and Cleaning the Water Tank
Recommendation: Clean the water tank and change the circulating water weekly.
It's crucial to ensure the laser tube is filled with circulating water before starting the machine. The quality and temperature of circulating water directly influence the lifespan of the laser tube. Using purified water and keeping the water temperature below 35℃ is advised. If the temperature exceeds 35℃, change the circulating water or add ice cubes to lower the temperature. (Using a chiller or two water tanks is recommended).
To clean the water tank: Firstly, turn off the power and unplug the inlet water pipe, allowing the water inside the laser tube to flow into the water tank automatically. Open the water tank, remove the water pump, and clean the dirt on it. Clean the water tank thoroughly and replace the circulating water. Put the water pump back into the water tank and insert the water pipe connected to the water pump into the inlet. Organize all the connectors, and let the water pump run independently for 2-3 minutes (to fill the laser tube with circulating water).
2. Fan Cleaning
Long-term use of the fan will accumulate a lot of solid dust, making a lot of noise and obstructing exhaust and odor removal. When the suction of the fan is insufficient, turn off the power first. Remove the inlet and outlet ducts of the fan, remove the dust inside, and then turn the fan upside down, pulling the blades inside until it is clean. Finally, install the fan again.
3. Lens Cleaning
Recommendation: Clean daily before work while the device is turned off.
The laser cutting machine has 3 reflectors and 1 focus lens (No.1 reflector is at the emission end of the laser tube, i.e., the upper left corner of the machine. No.2 reflector is at the left end of the beam. No.3 reflector is at the top of the fixed part of the laser head. The focus lens is in the adjustable lens barrel at the bottom of the laser head). The laser is emitted from the laser head after being reflected and focused by these lenses. Dust or other contaminants can cause laser loss or lens damage.
To clean, wipe the No.1 and No.2 reflectors gently and in a circular motion from the center to the edge using lens paper dipped in cleaning solution without removing them. For No.3 reflector and focus lens, they need to be removed from the lens holder for cleaning, then reinstalled after cleaning.
Note:
- Wipe the lens gently to avoid damaging the surface coating.
- Handle the lens gently during the cleaning process to prevent dropping.
- Make sure the concave side is facing downwards when installing the focus lens.
Conclusion
Performing these daily maintenance tasks will help keep your laser cutting machine in optimal condition, extending its lifespan and maintaining the quality of its performance.
