3rd DIY Fiber Laser Competition
Registration is open

Why We Do This

  • We want laser technology to be accessible to everyone — to understand it, to use it, and to build with it.
  • Then we noticed something: most of you were already doing exactly that.
  • So we turned it into a competition — to say thanks, to show your builds, and to bring everyone together.

Curious what this year is all about?

Interested? Here’s how the competition works.

How It Works

  • When signing up, you will choose between Starter and Professional divisions
  • Each division is designed for a different build level, but both share the same stage
  • The two-division structure exists to ensure fair comparison, clear expectations, and a better experience for both first-time builders and advanced system designers

Learn the difference between Starter and Professional

  • A short demonstration video (≤ 8 minutes, 16:9) is required for all participants
  • A photo of the contestant with the built machine is required
  • Additional technical materials apply to the Professional division only

See the full submission checklist

  • Industry professionals from the laser and CNC field
  • Experienced engineers from SkyFire and EETO
  • Previous competition champions and senior builders

View judge profiles

  • Starter Group is evaluated primarily based on video review, covering appearance, innovation, expandability, and cutting performance.
  • Cutting performance is evaluated using a unified test drawing provided by the organizing committee to ensure fair comparison.
  • Professional Group is evaluated based on video review plus technical documentation, such as BOM and electrical diagrams, submitted for EETO & SkyFire technical review only
  • Starter and Professional divisions follow different criteria weights

See evaluation criteria and weights

  • Awards are structured by division (Starter / Professional) and final rank
  • Each division includes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
  • Special awards highlight community impact and smart builds (Most Popular Award via online voting, Best Low-cost Build Award)
  • Final rankings are announced after judging and public voting are completed
